{8 Months} || a little late ||

What's new, this post is late. I always wait too long to take the pictures and then I can never seem to find a good time. Oh well, better late than never!

Porter,

You are now 8 months old- you have changed so much in the past month, as usual :)

You are now army crawling across the whole house, you go where your little heart desires. You haven't figured out how to crawl on all 4's yet, but i'm sure the day is coming any time!

We think you signed milk (twice) a week or so ago, but you haven't done it since, so i'm not sure if it was real or a coincidence.

You are eating three meals a day, plus a handful of bottles. You have had so many different foods, I don't even think I could remember and list them all at this point :) You do love to eat.

You laugh, all the time. At the cat, the dogs, me, your dad, everything.

You LOVE the Teletubbies. Whenever your dad turns it on (I don't really turn it on often for you, dad does plenty :) you get a huge smile and sometimes even squeal in delight. It is pretty cute to see you that into it though.

You still sleep in my bed...and we both still love it :)

You can drink from a sippy cup, as in you know how to raise it up so that the water comes out (that's all that we put in sippy cups for you...sometimes I'll throw some melon in there to give it a little flavor though...).

You are sitting up perfectly on your own. Enough so that I even let you take a bath without your baby tub :) You love it!

You still get a bath every night. It's become our routine and I'm pretty sure you love that time of day. Plus, you take a bottle afterward and fall asleep, and that's what works.

You started swimming lessons last weekend and you did so great! Mostly, you sat there in the water chewing on a diving stick, but you were content. You watched the other babies, and you even let us float you on your back without a care in the world...

You are interested in everything you see. And now that you are mobile, you check it all out hands on.

Napping hasn't been going very well for the past week or so- but i'm pretty sure it's teething. You wake up all upset, and all I have to do is rub your back usually and you go back to sleep. But no teeth yet! I think your gums are swollen though, so i'm pretty sure we'll be seeing one very very soon.

With every month, every week, even every day, you change and discover new things and sounds you can make and things you can do with your body. It's so amazing to watch, and I love seeing you transform into this little person :)

Porter-

You are now half a year old. Every month I am astounded by the things you learn and I love to see your personality come out more each and every day. We lay on the couch and you let me cuddle you, and you smile and giggle at me and make me smile so much my face hurts. This always happens. But it's a good thing, because when I smile you smile right back at me and it's just never ending :)

You love to jump in your jumperoo. You finally figured out how to bounce, so that's what you do. You have held your own bottle a couple of times. You've now flown to IL twice, and did amazing both times. I think you are starting to like sleeping with me too much. When you stayed with a babysitter the other night, you didn't sleep well when she put you in the crib. That's something we will have to work on...when i'm ready to stop sleeping with you. I'm not sure when that's going to be though. I love when I come into bed a few hours after you've been in there sleeping already, curl up next to you and put my finger in your hand until you squeeze it. Then I go to sleep :)

I've been asked more times than I can remember now, "is he always that happy?" by perfect strangers. People are constantly noticing your happiness. You still nap pretty great, a couple hours in the morning and 3-4 hours most afternoons. You have been eating food now for a few weeks and love most everything you've tried; carrots, sweet potatoes, peaches, bananas, pears, and pomegranate juice (which I mix in with veggies sometimes). You eat fruit in the morning and veggies in the evening.

You really have found your voice. One morning you woke up to eat at 2am, finished eating and was wide awake for an hour and a half happily squeeling, screeching, and talking loudly. The next time you woke up, you did the same thing. Honestly, around 3am I did try putting a pillow over my head to block out the noise because you were squeeling right in my ear, hahah. It's awesome though to hear you "talking" and changing the pitch of your voice. A lot of times you will make the same repetition of noises over and over, like you really seem to know what you're talkin' about!

You can move your little body all over the place. Sometimes you are really squirmy when we're holding you, bouncing yourself up and down and trying to throw yourself in different directions, haha. It's funny, but sometimes I gotta move fast to grab you before you jump right out of my arms! When laying on the ground, sometimes I'll leave you for a second to go to the bathroom and you move your body into such a different position and place that I really do wonder how you got in the position you ended up in.

You smile and laugh all the time. At me, your dad, our friends, Lola and Lucy, the kitty. Hearing you laugh and giggle is one of the best parts of my days.

You have been teething a couple times, nothing horrible, but enough to make you act a little cranky and make you drool uncontrollably. You like to suck on the cold teethers we keep in the fridge. Also on our fingers. Most of your clothes are 6 and 6-9 months. We switched to cloth diapers and I think you really like them (they are way softer).
