In some of the pictures above, you can see a drummer and a dj. The drummer (Cory) is no longer part of Pretty Lights- it's just Derek now. He lives up in Fort Collins, an hour away from where I live.
I've been to his small shows, and i've been to his big shows. They're all so much fun.
And it's awesome workout music :)

Boombox is such fun dance music let me tell you. It consists of two guys who play an electronic blend of vintage rock and blues while incorporating back beat, psychedelia and funky house sounds.
I've seen them more times than I can count, and it's so much fun every single time! Go check out their schedule and see if they're playing near you! They are on tour more times than not, and you won't regret it I PROMISE!

The String Cheese Incident.
One of my favorite jam bands ever. They are from Colorado too! Their music sounds like bluegrass, and is so much fun live (Porter was actually in my belly for at least 3 Cheese shows, if not more). In 2007, they went on Hiatus and played their last shows in August 2007 at Red Rocks. The members had their own side/solo projects and continued to play with those bands. In 2009, they announced they would play Rothbury Music Festival in Rothbury, MI. Then later that year it was announced that they would reunite for a handful of shows in the following year. That following March, they played the week after Porter was born (he was still in the hospital) so I didn't get to see them :( They're next tour covers the midwest and mostly the East Coast, so we won't be making to any of those either- I can't wait until they come back to CO! I did see two of the members play the other night in Denver though :)

The song "Naive Melody" is my favorite. When I first moved to Colorado, a friend of mine that I met within the first couple months I lived here, he played it on his guitar around a fire, and I fell in love with that song. It was so fitting for where I was at in my life at that time. The video is below...listen to the lyrics, they're awesome :)

I just recently discovered a new blog, Sugar Blossom, and she has a feature on her blog called "Music Mondays" that I decided I want to take part in every Monday (not to mention her blog is AWESOME and you should check it out every day!). Music is such a big part of my life and there are so many good bands that I feel like not enough people know about. So from now on, every Monday I will do a "Music Monday" feature and link up with Danielle!

This band- is AMAZING. It is in my top 3 favorite bands ever.

What i'm trying to get at, is that Railroad Earth's music is REAL, from the heart, about real life. It's meaningful and- sadly- that is hard to come by in music today.
Seeing Railroad Earth live is one of the most amazing experiences. Their music flows through you, causing non-stop movement from the beginning of the show until the end. It honestly has the power to make you happy, and to take your mind to a good place. I've seen Railroad Earth more times than I can count at this point, and they will remain one of my favorite bands probably forever :)
