This now sits in my bathroom.
When do I start?
How do I know when he's ready?
Will he EVER be ready?
Help!!

If you don't like it, change it. If you can't change it, change the way you think about it.

First off good luck. My 1st little man led, and I followed. Best advice I received is to not stress, not worry about the other kids his age, and just work out where he is up to.
ReplyDeleteMy 2nd son is 19 months old, we have taken our old potty out and leave it in the toilet/bathroom. He currently is really interested in it, he will sit on it but won't do anything on it. I encourage him on it before and after bath time right now. We get really excited when he sits on it, and he gets a high 5 which he just loves. Once he is happy to sit on it when I ask him on cue, then I will ask him to sit on it every time I take off his nappy. Hopefully by this time he has started to become really happy and familiar with the potty, and then its time to wait for him to start doing an actual wee, or poo in it. Then we will start jocks for short periods during the day with regular toileting (we will try and stay off the carpets on these early days). As long as he's trained before be goes to school at 5 I'll be happy. Goodluck x
Take him with you every time you go to the bathroom. If you are super serious about it all, just stick him in underwear and go every 15 minutes. Boys tend to take longer than girls. But not always. Aidric has been in underwear since the summer and still has one poop accident a day. But is getting much much better! I had to give up this idea that it would be speedy process. Good luck!
