Yes, it's a huge mess. And the empty floor area to the right? Up until 10 minutes ago, that was completely piled high with boxes, mostly from stuff we've gotten for Porter thus far (swing box, jumperoo box, stroller and car seat box). And don't mind the furry blue creepy animal hanging from the ceiling, that's Jeremy's...who knows. And that horse? It "appeared" here when we got back from Illinois (really though, Jeremy's brother brought it over, it used to be their daughter's. I LOVE it though, I had one when I was little and it reminds me of my grandma and grandpa's house :)
I am so excited to Pinterest the hell out of this room :)
Beware- this song is ADDICTING.

Craft Binder
12:15 AMI like to be organized. And while Pinterest is somewhat organized with boards and stuff, I still don't feel like it's organized to m...
So this is what i've decided to do. I am going to put together all of the crafts and games, etc, for Porter, and print them out. Like, print a pic of the craft, a list of supplies, and directions if necessary. I think I will divide them up into sections, and go by appropriate age for activity.
So when Porter starts getting old enough to do lots of fun crafts and play lots of fun games, I will have a binder I can flip through and find something quickly! I like tangible. So I think the binder's gonna work better than Pinterest boards that I have to click a bunch of things to get to the actual post. And since i'll use a 3-ring binder, I can add things whenever I want into whatever section I want!
I may even add a section for me, stuff I want to make for Porter. We'll see what happens...
I will keep everyone updated on the progress of this as I work on it!

I am getting a sewing machine next week!!!!! WWAAAHHHOOOOOOO!!!!
My mom gave me her old one at the end of my college years, I never used it, and when I moved to Colorado in my small car (a 2 door Cavalier at the time), it got left behind in mom's garage. And since I usually fly back to visit, I can never bring it back with me.
But. We are driving out there for my sister's wedding next week- I'm bringin' that baby home to CO!
So get ready for lots of sewing posts, because that's what I plan on doing with my spare time :)
Things I WILL make, like, immediately.

These bibs are AMAZING. They even have straps to strap the legs around Porter's legs. These will save me from having to strip him down to his diaper for feedings :) And the best part? They are homemade, and were only $2 for all 4 (at my favorite kids consignment store in Denver). Yippeeee!
Cloth Diapering!
10:26 AMI finally did it. I went to the store and I bought as much as I could afford right now to get us started. I purchased a Rumparoos cover, a F...
I went into this local store here in Evergreen and the lady in there spent a good 30 minutes explaining every single thing she could think of about cloth diapering, gave me a cloth diapering "dictionary" (a print out of every term used in the cloth diapering world and it's meaning), and I ended up leaving that day without buying anything, but going home and pricing it out to be nearly $350 to "start" with the things I wanted. But when I was home last week in IL, my mom showed me how she used to diaper me, and that was with a prefold, pins, and plastic pants. I was like "Why the heck am I not doing that??" So I came home and 2 days later bought his first cloth diapers (at the store I had previously gone to).
So there I was, waiting all this time to be able to spend hundreds at once to get started, and do you want to know how much I spent? About $45. That's it. And I am successfully cloth diapering 24/7. It is seriously AMAZING. I am already so in love with it...I can't wait to start adding to the collection :)
Because we have a pretty small supply right now, I wash the prefolds and covers usually once to twice a day. Which I gladly do, because I feel 100% better every single time I change his diaper now!
So far, I really like the Flip cover the best (the green one)...less leaks in that one compared to the others. I also REALLY need some soaker pads for night time.
Cloth diapering is pretty dang awesome.
UPDATE:
After I posted this, I got some greatly appreciated money in the mail, so I went and bought another Flip cover, and an Econobum diaper and soaker pad, and 3 more soaker pads. :)
New blog design :)
9:39 PMSo I know I haven't been posting for the last couple days, but it's because i've been hard at work making my blog look better :)...
Back to more blogging tomorrow. I have been SO tired the last few days and I don't know why...it sucks. I took a 4 hour nap yesterday. Yes, FOUR HOURS. Thank god for Jeremy being here and letting me sleep. I thanked him, and he goes "it's cool, me and Port Dawg were hangin'." Haha. And then tonight, when I put him to sleep around 6:30pm, I fell asleep until after 8. Shoot. Napping queen over here. I just can't get myself to get to sleep earlier at night.
Guess who can sit up in the tub for more than 5 seconds nowadays? This guy!

2. hanging out on the ground watching people :) we then missed our connecting flight to milwaukee (my cell phone time didn't change, so I thought we were an hour behind what we actually were) and couldn't get on another flight until the next morning, so we called a friend who lived nearby (in Lawrence) and stayed the night with them.

16. waiting to fly back to denver.
This last picture I wanted to post separately, because I kind of like the story that goes with it :)
We flew from Milwaukee to Kansas City, had a short layover, and then flew from Kansas City to Denver. Right as we got into Denver, we hit tons of HORRIBLE turbulence and apparently the weather was too bad to land, so we got re-routed to Colorado Springs. That meant we had to sit on the HOT airplane for over 2 hours until we got the ok to fly back to Denver. I seriously think someone up "there" really really loves me, because I have the world's best traveling baby ever. Seriously. He doesn't sleep much, but he just hangs out and looks around and smiles and laughs at people. So while sitting on the runway for hours hanging out, he literally made everyone's day. We were near the front of the plane, and at one point there was a huge line for the bathroom, and he made a new friend in every person who walked by, smiling and laughing at everyone. And in particular, this one woman (in the photo above) who had so much fun hanging out with him. The lady's husband actually got out of his seat next to her so Porter could sit there, and he stood in the aisle and chatted with other people. How awesome is that??!
Once we got back to Denver, we realized that our car seat wasn't with the rest of the car seats from our flight (we later found out that it never left Milwaukee). We went to the baggage counter and made a report, and while doing so, we talked about how happy Porter still was considering the re-route and stuff. The lady at the counter mentioned that there had been an older woman in there that was talking about this little boy on her flight, and that it was the best flight she had been on in a long time. She was talking about Porter!! So even though the flight was re-routed, people were cranky, it was hot and uncomfortable, and we had no food besides peanuts and pretzels, Porter made this woman's day. Wow. That is incredible to me. He honestly made an otherwise crappy situation, bearable for so many people :)
DO it.
